Notes:

Western Wedgetail runs from Echidna Gap (the top of Tall Trees) down to Wedgetail Junction - the major intersection of Western Wedgetail, Pork Barrel, Skyline, Roller Coaster, Magpie Rock and the fire trail network.

Western Wedgetail is fast and flowy, while it can be rough it is also open giving great visibility and an excellent opportunity to get warmed up before moving onto some of the more tricky descents.  For those reasons it is the most popular descent from Echidna Gap.

It's easy to pick up speed on this trail however you need to be vigilant.  The fast corners can be heavily corrugated and there are a significant number of rocks in the trail that could cause concern if your weight isn't right.

For beginner riders looking to take the next step up this trail is a good one to test your skills and build confidence.  You could even walk or ride the fire trail back to the top if you wanted to practice.

From Western Wedgetail I recommend taking Skyline for your first run and if you are comfortable with drops of up to 2 feet then try Pork Barrel it's my highlight of Stromlo Forest Park.

This website is brought to you by MTB weekend warrior Aaron Markie.
There are plenty of great websites out there with a wealth of information about Mountain Bike Trails,
however in my experience its hard to get a good mix of info, maps, photos and videos of trails I've never ridden.
The idea of this website is to tie those 4 elements together and give you a more detailed look at the MTB Trails I ride.
If you have anything to add then let me know.
