Notes:

Double Dissolution runs from the end of Pork Barrel to the Stromlo Forest Park Western Car Park (which at the time of riding was a building site and may not be accessible during work hours?).

While Pork Barrel was all about rocks and drops Double Dissolution is all about jumps. Lots of jumps up to around 2ft high, some singles, some doubles and some table-tops. Its major challenge comes in the number of jumps, how quickly you come across them and their sometimes precarious positioning (just before, during or after turns).

If riding at speed it's a great place to practice your "scrub or jump" reflexes and I found as the afternoon shadows reduced trail visibility this became all the more important.

It's fast and flowy, you can pump off the jumps and bumps and really hold momentum through banked corners.  The trail itself is far smoother than Pork Barrel, possibly even smoother than Skyline. It does have a fair share of loose rocks and the edges are pretty rough at times however even for someone of limited cornering ability I felt confident holding speed along the well groomed trail.

The only downside is that Double Dissolution is pretty much the end of the descents on the western side.  From here your options are to exit at the Western Car Park, take the XC Trail back to base (via the Crim Track) or ride (probably walk as its STEEP) back up the fire trails and do the descents again - a good option! In fact you can park at the Western Car Park and just ride the trails on the western side of the mountain however I will say it again, the fire trails back up to the top are near vertical .. and I mean vertical!

Riding with plenty of energy and aggression brings this trail to life.  Really fun stuff!

Another must do!

This website is brought to you by MTB weekend warrior Aaron Markie.
There are plenty of great websites out there with a wealth of information about Mountain Bike Trails,
however in my experience its hard to get a good mix of info, maps, photos and videos of trails I've never ridden.
The idea of this website is to tie those 4 elements together and give you a more detailed look at the MTB Trails I ride.
If you have anything to add then let me know.
