Notes:

The section of trail between the Ngarigo Campground and Thredbo Diggings is listed as a blue trail, it is certainly more difficult than any other section of the TVT.  The difficulties lie in the steepness and length of the climbs and descents, the tightness of the switchback corners, a number of off camber corners, the immanent dangers of a narrow trail on a steep hillside and the number of rocks in the trail.  But while beginners and casual cyclists might struggle most MTBers will LOVE this section of the ride.

This section starts with a steep climb from river level up the side of the eastern embankment however the effort is rewarded with the first flowy traverse and descending switchback before running a long a series of elevated walkways.

My favourite section of the trail is about 1/3 of the way in as it descends through a series of tight switchbacks.  The video was my first run down on my second run I got the back sliding a little to far, over cooked it and was lucky to stay on top of the bike - but I have the bruises to show for it, so all good!

The middle section is back on the climb to the top of the ridge where it opens up for one of the most picturesque sections of the whole TVT trail.  The final 1/3 of this section is a mix of fast flowy sections and fairly easy but long pedaling/climbing sections.

This 3rd part of the TVT features quite a number of bridges, although not as spectacular as the suspension bridges in the first section of the TVT just outside of Thredbo.  The bridges easily accommodate the widest of handlebars but they are not wide enough to ride around others on the bridges.  It's a shared use trail, give way to pedestrians.

This section ends at the Thredbo Diggings camping ground just inside the National Park.  Its a great place to take a break and ice any aching joints in the near freezing Thredbo River.  From here you can continue onto Bullocks Flat (Skitube) via the heavily trafficked and gravelly Part 4 Bullocks Track, the more natural Muzzelwood Trail or the newly authorised-for-mtbers Thredbo Diggings Trail.

I really enjoyed this section of the Thredbo Valley Trail with it's amazing view and flowy descents.

This website is brought to you by MTB weekend warrior Aaron Markie.
There are plenty of great websites out there with a wealth of information about Mountain Bike Trails,
however in my experience its hard to get a good mix of info, maps, photos and videos of trails I've never ridden.
The idea of this website is to tie those 4 elements together and give you a more detailed look at the MTB Trails I ride.
If you have anything to add then let me know.
