Notes:
There's certainly no confusion as to how the Escalator got its name. A steep winding trail that powers its way up the hill.
Escalator runs through an open section of natural bush leaving the trail open, quite dry and full of rocks. SHARP rocks, rocks that will rip through a light weight XC tyre. Escalator must have seen it's fair share of casualties as riders arrive on their last legs courtesy of the near vertical fire trails and in a moment of delirium catch a rock that rips through their sidewalls like ice through the Titanic.
There is not doubting the Escalator is a fair climb, and the endless abundance of sharp rocks make it all the more challenging, however technically it's not so tough, certainly not in the same realm as Web Track or Stairway to Heaven, but by the the top I was shattered.
From here take the fire trail to the right and get ready for the amazing Effing Track
