Notes:
The Helipad signals the start of some very long downhill sections. This section is all fire trail and at the time of riding was well groomed, however there can be loose rocks in the riding line so be vigilant.
The opening section from the Helipad is fairly flat with a small climb a minute or so into the ride but from then on it descends, slowly at first but gradually getting steeper. This section winds its way down to the gate and the start of the single track.
It’s important to keep an ear and eye out for other riders – coming both ways (plenty of people ride up the trail). Experienced riders fly down these hills VERY fast. I rode this section in 11 minutes but there are times on Strava in the 8 minute zone so they must be moving!
This is a busy trail – ride within your limits, and the limits of what you can see.
LAYERING UP - I was quite wet from sweat when I got to the Helipad and relished the opportunity to cool down, however it was sub 20C so I started getting very cold, very quickly. Depending on the weather its worth considering layering up.
Other than that enjoy this very open and fast section of track.
