Notes:
The fun starts the moment you drop in from the road with a few bumps and a banked left turn that fires you back across the hill to a huge right hand switchback. From there its not long before you are on the first of a number of ladder bridges. For the new riders these bridges could be daunting but for experienced riders they are fun and flowy.
Following on from the ladder bridges are a number of tight and short switchbacks that give you a little altitude before you are shot off across the mountain through a series of bumps, rocks, twists and turns eventually opening up at a set of rollers on the side of the fire trail.
The track then really fires up with some big open and banked corners followed by some HUGE rollers at the Turkey Royal before getting tight again for the final section of the trail.
This trail is FUN. A real diverse mix of technical challenges, both big and little rollers, both tight and open corners, both banked and flat turns. It's really got it all, and quite frankly its amazing how well they have used the natural lines to create such a flowy track.
The Blue Descent is the feature trail of Old Man's Valley and a great place to improve your technical and cornering skills. For me personally it has been a case of trying to get off the brakes and carry my speed better along the whole trail.
The trail starts from Quarry Rd, immediately oposite the end of the Blue Upper Loop, touches the Fire Trail about half way down and ends at flat open area near the bottom of the valley at the intersection of the Green Loop and fire trail. The return ride is via the Fire Trail which can be extended with the Blue Pool Climb.
There is also a black extension to this trail that features some log rides, lots of technical sections and a awesome challenge named "Chute My Pants". I'm hoping to ride this section as soon as the Doc gives me the all clear.
