Notes:

The Chiltern Track is a short up and back running from Chiltern Rd, Ingleside down to McCarrs Creek Rd (about 300m from the West Head Rd turn off and about 700m from the bottom of the Duckholes track).

From Chiltern Rd its basically downhill all the way to the gate.  The trail surface is typical of other trails in the area with plenty of loose rocks on top of either dirt or rock with small patches of sand.

At the time of riding the trail was in pretty good nick.  The few water crossings were easily rode over at speed and there were some fairly smooth riding lines through the loose rocks.

Chiltern Track is steep in places and there are quite a number of water bars, but it looks more intimidating than it really is.  Beginner riders just need to be conscious of their speed in some of the tighter and rougher sections.

Riding back up is challenging due to the number of steep loose climbs, there is still one section I've yet to conquer, however its certainly not beyond the realms of intermediate riders and beginners can always walk the hard sections.

For beginner to intermediates descending will take about 4-6 minutes and climbing back up about 10-20 minutes depending on fitness.

Chiltern is an excellent extension to any ride around the McCarrs Creek area, linking up with Duckholes track or the Centre Track and even used to get up on the Chiltern North track.

This website is brought to you by MTB weekend warrior Aaron Markie.
There are plenty of great websites out there with a wealth of information about Mountain Bike Trails,
however in my experience its hard to get a good mix of info, maps, photos and videos of trails I've never ridden.
The idea of this website is to tie those 4 elements together and give you a more detailed look at the MTB Trails I ride.
If you have anything to add then let me know.
