Old Man's Valley - Officially Opened!!

 9/2/2013

I defied Doctor's orders for a special occasion today, the opening of the Old Man's Valley Trails at Hornsby.

The official opening was conducted by Mayor Steven Russell and attended by a number of other dignitaries including State Member for Hornsby Matt Kean, the Honourable Philip Ruddock MP (House of Representatives for Berowra) and members of the Hornsby Shire Council.

There were also contingents from various local groups including SNORC, Turramurra Cyclery and of course the trail builders Synergy Trails.

After the Mayor cut the ribbon the kids were let loose on the new green loop (located at the bottom of the blue descent). This beginners trail is a great addition with a ladder bridge, banked corners, a rock garden, bits of flow and heap of rollers. It's a great place to let your little ones loose as the trail is completely visible the whole way around.

After christening the green trail we headed back up the hill to ride the blue trails and noticed a number of small changes (for the better) since riding the trails pre-Christmas.

As it was quite a warm day the number of riders thinned out pretty rapidly but even after midday there were still plenty of riders out on the trails.

A big congratulations and thank you to Hornsby Shire Council (especially Nick Cook) for their vision and commitment to the mountain bike community.

If you haven't been out to Old Man's Valley lock it in!

Comments:

This website is brought to you by MTB weekend warrior Aaron Markie.
There are plenty of great websites out there with a wealth of information about Mountain Bike Trails,
however in my experience its hard to get a good mix of info, maps, photos and videos of trails I've never ridden.
The idea of this website is to tie those 4 elements together and give you a more detailed look at the MTB Trails I ride.
If you have anything to add then let me know.
