Stairway to Heaven  

Notes:

Stairway to Heaven was opened in August 2015 along with Romper Room.  Two trails that are quite unlike anything else in the East Kowen Forest.

Stairway to Heaven starts from the Green Mile fire trail, not far from the bottom of Kowalski's Sideshow. the top of Corkscrew and the crossing of Rolling Thunder 1 and Rolling Thunder 2.

There's no hiding that Stairway to Heaven is a challenging climb, far harder than the Web Track in many respects.  The switchbacks are tight and steep, many of them have rocks making line choice important, and of course the trail's name comes from the endless steps along the climb.

This trail is technical, well beyond anything else in the forest.  The steps are often large, a couple of them so big they made me think I was riding the trail the wrong way.  There are also a few steps located on the exit of a steep switchback, well beyond my capacity as you will hear in the video.

The Kowalski Brothers have out done themselves with this trail.  Stairway to Heaven will separate the men, from the boys, from the 40 Year Old Fat Bastards like me.  As you can see by the video it took me 23 minutes to climb - plus stops.

In a race situation this trail is going to cause PANDEMONIUM !!  I suspect the hardcore MTBers will be making up plenty of time on the Roadies climbing this trail.
