Notes:

Lower Cambourne runs from the Cascades Track (just below the intersection of Upper Cambourne) down to the Bare Creek Track near the intersection of the Quarry Track.

On this video I am running in reverse which means I'm climbing most of the way.

From the Bare Creek Track a short descent and five waterbars lead to a deep creek crossing.  While it seemed crossable, even at speed, the water looked to be at least a foot deep, maybe more.  There are however places to cross at either end of the pool.

The creek is a great place to take a break with some really picturesque rock pools, waterfalls and narrow gullies.  See some of the photos below.

After the creek crossing the trail starts to climb steeply.  While certainly rideable a slip on a loose rock was enough to halt my climb - listen for the moral support from the bushwalkers on the trail :)

After the initial steep sections the trail continues to climb but at a reduced rate before flattening out for a short period.  It's an opportunity to catch your breath before a series of short and moderate climbs lead up to the Cascades Trail.

Overall the trail condition is pretty good, however between Bare Creek Track the top of the steep climbs on the other side of the creek there are some rutted sections and the trail has a reasonable amount of loose rocks.

If riding the other way take caution on the descents leading to the creek, it is steep, loose and the corners are tight!  You wont get much warning should someone else be on the trail.

It's definitely worth including Lower Cambourne on your ride through the St Ives and Belrose area.

This website is brought to you by MTB weekend warrior Aaron Markie.
There are plenty of great websites out there with a wealth of information about Mountain Bike Trails,
however in my experience its hard to get a good mix of info, maps, photos and videos of trails I've never ridden.
The idea of this website is to tie those 4 elements together and give you a more detailed look at the MTB Trails I ride.
If you have anything to add then let me know.
