Notes:

Tokorangi was one of the finds of my Dec 2014 trip to  the Rotorua Redwoods, a trail I  would highly recommend to anyone visiting the forest.

It’s a fair  effort to climb Katore Rd however  not beyond the dozens of riders I saw over the two half days I spent in the  area.  Personally I found the climb too  steep but the walk was relatively easy.

The Tokorangi single track starts with a  climb from near the top of Katore Rd up to the top of the peak.  A relatively  easy climb in comparison to Katore Rd.  At the top of the peak is an amazing 360°  view ofRotorua, something not to be  missed.  Make sure you have your camera.

From the  top of the hill the Corridor trail  begins adjacent to the continuing Tokorangi.  WarningCorridor is a grade 5 trail and  requires skills well beyond of what is needed for Tokorangi.

From the  top, Tokorangi flows through the  cleared forest, initially downhill it then climbs along the ridge before  entering the forest.  There are some  roots and ruts in the opening section of the trail worthy of special attention  due to the speed easily gained in this section.

Once inside  the heavily ferned scrub the trail is quite narrow and dark but once into the  pine forest the trail widens allowing a fast flowy run down to Turkish Delight via a number of lovely  wide banked turns and some super fun traverses.

While the  stretch through the trees is quite long it only takes a couple of minutes due  to the brilliantly juicy gravity flow.   Not a lot of braking is needed and virtually no pedaling.

This trail  could be ridden on any bike and ridden confidently by any rider comfortable on  descending single tracks.  Much easier  than Corners and not as tight as Split Enz.

A highly  recommended ride

This website is brought to you by MTB weekend warrior Aaron Markie.
There are plenty of great websites out there with a wealth of information about Mountain Bike Trails,
however in my experience its hard to get a good mix of info, maps, photos and videos of trails I've never ridden.
The idea of this website is to tie those 4 elements together and give you a more detailed look at the MTB Trails I ride.
If you have anything to add then let me know.
