Video Uploaded: 16/11/2014

Difficulty - Intermediate - Advanced - A & B Lines
Slope - Moderate
Space - Tight - Extreme Caution
Surface - Clay - Dirt - Roots - Rutted
Trail type - Single track

Notes:

G Rock is typically ridden from the end of Billy T (at the intersection of Moerangi Rd and Hill Rd) down to Chestnut Link onto Roller Coaster and  back to the shuttle pickup.

While not  as steep or technical as Billy T, G Rock is still challenging.  Generally the trail is narrow with not a lot  of room for error and that makes the rooted sections all the more intense or  fun depending on your point of view.   There are some fast flowy sections with rollers to jump off and one  particular root on an off camber section of trail that surprised me on every  run (as heard in the video).

There is a  bit of pedaling to be done on this trail but the climbs are short and easy.

G Rock takes the bulk of the traffic from Te Tihi-O-Tawa, Underbilly and Billy T as the alternative is the long ride up Moerangi  and Loop Rds to Split Enz, so  it’s common to find other riders on the trail.   Personally I would recommend not stopping on this trail as there’s not a  lot of room and time to riders to react.

This website is brought to you by MTB weekend warrior Aaron Markie.
There are plenty of great websites out there with a wealth of information about Mountain Bike Trails,
however in my experience its hard to get a good mix of info, maps, photos and videos of trails I've never ridden.
The idea of this website is to tie those 4 elements together and give you a more detailed look at the MTB Trails I ride.
If you have anything to add then let me know.
