Notes:

The Challenge Area of the Redwoods has been completely re-cut after the hillside was harvested for the forest timber, the result is a great set of seriously fun MTB park style trails.  The Challenge Area is only a short and fairly easy dirt road climb from Waipa car park and from the base of each trail it’s only a few minutes back up the hill using the same road.

The Challenge Trail is a great trail for opening up and really letting the bike run.  It’s got a heap of really nice banked corners however at the time of riding they were getting a rough so I found myself staying low in an attempt to hold speed.

There are a number of small to medium table top jumps and a couple of much larger doubles for people who can escape gravity better than I.  There is also a gap jump that’s pretty forgiving if you come up a little short, as I did.

The trail is quite wide and due to the lack of trees the visibility is excellent.  Challenge is a great trail for those wanting to get comfortable at speed or riders looking for a trail to blow out the cobwebs.  Challenge is a step up from a beginner trail but is the perfect trail to step up on.
