Fred Caterson Reserve

Notes:

Double Down, also known as El Bosque de las Brujas (Witches Forest), runs from the short road section about 3/4 of the way along the Fullers Rd Reserve Bike Path down to The Bottom Trail intersecting just short of the water treatment plant.

The entry is not that obvious as it drops down a fairly steep and rough section of rocks, we actually found the entrance by riding up from the bottom.

The first 15m or so is quite technical with some rock roll-ins, some fairly rough landing areas and a rather large branch to duck under as you drop off a rock ledge.  From then on however the trail is not so tricky.

Tricky no, but technical yes.  The trail is very rocky, winding and undulating as it makes its way south.  While it does descend significantly there is a fair bit of pedaling involved, in fact it didn't seem to matter which direction we rode it always felt like we were climbing - strange how some trails are like that. 

On that note, because of the variety of technical sections this trail is worth riding in both directions just like The Bottom Trail.

The trail certainly has it's moments of fun with some A-B line rock drops, narrow trees and tight corners, even a short section along a rock ledge with a decent drop off to the side.

Double Down is definitely one of the highlights of Fred Cat and a trail I will include in any future ride there.
