Notes:

Like Chop Suey this trail is listed in the official trail app as “not recommended”  however in my opinion it is a whole lot better than Chop Suey – immensely better.

For a start  the forest is really spectacular but the trail is far more rewarding for the  effort.  It is a reasonable climb from Pohaturoa Rd to the top of the first  hill and that is backed up by a second climb not long after, however both  climbs zigzag their way up at a reasonable gradient, a few roots being the  biggest challenge.
From the  top the trail undulates around the hill before dipping steeply at times, with  some sections containing multiple rutted and rooty lines.

My biggest  complaint about Rosebank is the  water crossing at the bottom.  I am the mountain  bike equivalent of a cat, I hate riding in mud or water and this water crossing  is deep, almost to the axel and that’s not accounting for how much I would have  sunk in the soft mud.  It had “Nasty OTB  event” written all over it.

From the  other side of the creek it’s a short climb and descent back to Pohaturoa Rd.

Certainly  not a favourite trail, but very picturesque and a way of adding an extra 1km of  burn to the end of your ride.
