I don't know if the trail builders intentionally made the first bit of single track on the Red Loop the hardest bit but it certainly is. Nothing like putting the fear of god into any unsuspecting MTB newbies.
Padre's Blessing, otherwise known as Moulin Rouge on Strava gets straight into the technical stuff. The A-Line has some pretty steep sections, with rough cobblestone followed by some technical rock climbing, while the B-Line (featured in this video) is a lot more casual it still has some technical rock sections.
If the first descent didn't get you off the pedals at some point then some of the narrow tree gaps on the long traverse to Gully Rd probably will. In fact one particular gap is narrower than most bars, it's an art to get through without stopping.
Padre's Blessing is not a deal breaker when it comes to taking people around the Red Loop, but new riders might need a little encouragement that the hardest bit is done and dusted.
