Notes:
The name "Family Loop" is a little deceptive, it implies a simple flat cycleway however the Family Loop is a significant step up from this. Riders on this simplified and shortened loop still need a reasonable level of bike competence. It contains some reasonably tight and steep descents where confident braking an steering control is necessary. There are also short climbs with tight corners that might have younger inexperience riders screaming "I'm never riding with you again!!"
So with the warnings aside this trail is actually a great trail to take kids who want a taste of fair dinkum XC single track without having to travel too far from the trail head.
The Family Loop shares the same entrance and exit as the Full Loop. Cross the Dam and follow the single track up to the first intersection. You can ride the loop in either direction, on this occasion we rode clockwise. The short cuts that form the Family Loop were well signposted at the time of riding, but should you be in doubt take every turn off that heads toward the inside of the loop and you can't go wrong.
