Notes:
The Mill Creek Main Trail runs from Rainbow Drive near the Tyrolean Village to the Jindabyne Dam wall. It's a two way trail shared with walkers.
The section from the Rainbow Drive to the creek valley is typical open country single trail with a few small climbs, some winding sections, open straights and a number of metal bridges. While leaving from Rainbow Drive is largely on the descent it's easily ridden the other way. It's fun, flowing and on the odd occasion contains some small technical rocks.
The section between the creek valley and the dam wall contains the steepest sections and with the help of the high altitude environment you will be sucking in the big ones. Regardless of which end you start there are some lung busting climbs. Riding from the creek valley end is a steep fire trail climb with a single trail winding around it. It's a long and tiring climb up but riding the other way is fast and fun, with plenty of tight banked corners and small jumps. Once at the top of the hill there are a number of small winding descents and a bit more tight XC. Riding the other way its challenging largely due to the tight corners as you climb.
The whole area is easily navigated with regular sign posts along the route. If you want to go exploring there are a number of other, less traveled, single tracks along the way and its probably worth printing off a trail map from Rolling Ground although you really can’t go wrong with the Kosciuszko Highway above and Lake Jindabyne below, the dam wall at one end and the Tyrolean Village at the other. It’s a great way to spend a few hours exploring or a sprint there and back which will take about an hour depending on breaks and your fitness.
Parking at the Tyrolean Village or near the Jindabyne Dam wall.
BEWARE - These trails are shared with walkers. The MTB community have put a lot of energy into gaining the necessary approval to allow mountain biking. Enjoy the trail but PLAY IT SAFE, there are other trails in the Snowy to break free on.
