Red HillLast Update: 21/7/2012
Some trail names are made up, if there is a different name please let us know.
Difficulty - Easy - Intermediate - A & B Lines
Slope - Moderate
Space - Tight
Surface - Clay - Dirt - Loose rocks on dirt - Loose rocks on rock - Rock - Roots - Rutted
Trail type - Single track
Notes:
Named Figure 8 because of the two distinct loops that intersect. Mix up your routes for a different feel.
- Blue map section is predominantly dirt single track.
- Aqua map section is a set of sandstone steps, quite a technical climb and intermediate decent.
- Yellow map section is a steep rooted and rocky section that is actually the top of 100M Hill.
- Red map section is a basic single trail between the top of the aqua map section until the yellow map section before it turns into a tight rocky single track with plenty of loose rocks. Be careful when you merge with the blue map section as it can sneak up on you if you hammering downhill.
This forms the middle section of my favourite part of Red Hill. On the way back start from the big rock roll in from Three Ways and fly through the red map section of Figure 8 and finish it off with a great ride to the bottom of the Rock Slide. You can get up some good speed and really pump the bike down the trail.
Note: the video shows the first two runs in the opposite direction to the map. Starting from Three Ways down to the Rock Slide.
