Notes:
Dipper – the best beginner single track I’ve ever ridden. Your young kids will love it and your non-cycling other half will be buying their own SPDs in no time.
Dipper runs off Pohaturoa Rd near the end of Challenge and winds its way around the forest for more than 2km eventually exiting on Bakers Hollow just of Pohaturoa Rd.
Dipper has a really easy gradient. The descents provide enough slope to hold speed without pedaling but require little to no braking. The climbs are short and easy, even the most inexperienced rider should have little problem climbing.
The trail is wide, there are tonnes of beautifully smooth banked corners, cruisey rollers and some really groovy flow. At the time of riding the trail was immaculate due largely to the convex capping that keeps the water off the trail.
The more intermediate and beyond rider will still have plenty of fun on this trail. If flying around the bends is not enough there are some steep technical shoots that have been left to rut up. For the learners there are a range of easy options to help with rider development.
It really is a fantastic little XC trail and so easily accessible from the Waipa Carpark.
