Notes:

Kung Fu Walrus is a serious step up, I'd argue that it is the toughest Blue trail in the Rotorua Redwoods

(note there is a discrepancy between the grading of the trail signs and the app.  On trail signs show grading numbers to be 1 higher than the app for all trails Green and above, however colours are the same).

This trail is largely just raked into the hillside which means there is a LOT of off camber riding, heaps of roots, drops, dips and tight steep corners.  There are also some very steep, slippery and rutted shoots.

I rode this 2 days after a VERY wet Whaka 100 race which left the trail very rutted, lose and muddy.  It was a real challenge to ride.

KFW runs from Bush Rd, to access it simply climb up Moerangi Rd toward Split Enz but instead of turning right onto Loop Rd continue climbing up the hill until you reach the top.  Bush Rd heads off to the left opposite the entry to Time Warp and runs pretty flat all the way to the start of Kung Fu Walrus which is on the right.

A few hundred metres before KFW is the Lookout - a must do!  The view is amazing but be careful where you put your feet - you will understand when you see it.

This website is brought to you by MTB weekend warrior Aaron Markie.
There are plenty of great websites out there with a wealth of information about Mountain Bike Trails,
however in my experience its hard to get a good mix of info, maps, photos and videos of trails I've never ridden.
The idea of this website is to tie those 4 elements together and give you a more detailed look at the MTB Trails I ride.
If you have anything to add then let me know.
