Notes:
Gunna Gotta runs left from top of Katore Rd opposite where Tokorangi forks off to the right. Like Tokorangi, the Gunna Gotta trail begins with a climb, but a slightly longer pedal to a different peak. The top of Gunna Gotta has great views (like Tokorangi) but a clearer line of sight to the core trails below.
From the top, the trail winds its way around the hillside with some narrow, technical rooted and rutted sections. While Tokorangi and Corridor's exposed sections are flowy and fast Gunna Gotta's is technical, in fact quite technical, arguably the most technical section of the trail and somewhat reminiscent of my previous trips run on Boulderdash. I found it reasonably intimidating and was lucky to stay upright.
Once into the trees Gunna Gotta descends rapidly while not as tight and rooted as Corridor it is heavily rutted in places and despite the Sun being out the trail was quite slippery.
There was some strange trail signage and barricade tape on the lower trail that made little to no sense to me, it’s quite possible that it was left over from an event, there certainly didn’t seem to be any other reason for it, however there were other trails (including an alternate exit) that may have been closed.
What appears to be the main exit came out on Katore Rd almost opposite the Lion Trail, slightly above Corridor's exit.
